1 Corinthians 13:1 , “If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love [for others growing out of God’s love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction].”
One of the things my husband is probably most thankful for, is that I write and share because I exhaust him less with all my talking! A problem I have had my entire life! I am a work in progress, but doing better all the time. When we talk, I have a certain amount of time and then to him I begin to sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher. He might as well go back to looking on Craigslist for dirt bikes, parts, and things that use 2 stoke! I want to be loving and mindful how I speak. I need to say things concisely and in the right manner, so it will be received well. I Corinthians 13:1 reminds me of this, for I do not want to be a noisy clanging cymbal whether with my husband, in my relationship with the Lord or any area of my life.
Women are designed to talk more than men, we are known for it! Therefore we need to be considerate how our words effect our spouse. Are they wearing him out or building him up? Does he brace himself for a train wreck when you say, WE need to talk! Mine still does! Here is a hint straight from a man, warning of a pending talk is not something they like, just ask if it’s a good time. Bring God into your conversation and what He has to say about a situation and if you don’t know, look it up in the Bible together. With the technology we have today it is so easy to research a verse or topic in the Bible. God’s Word has answers and He promises to give us guidance when we seek Him.
Its all about walking in love and being considerate. If we are loving others out of the Love God has for us, we are a flowing reservoir of Gods perfect love. Yielding to the Holy Spirt makes us a vessel for the Lord to pour Himself out on our spouse. How beautiful is that! The marriage relationship God designed, in many ways, is to love His child through you. That is why marriage is such a sacred union of God and husband and wife. It is truly the difference between matrimony and HOLY matrimony.
