Women fulfilling their roles as a mother are loving God and showing Him honor. Caring for your family is a blessed and important role for every mother. The Lord knows each family is unique and He is a personal Lord who will guide and direct you as you go. Parenthood is an ongoing venture. It does not end when they magically turn 18. Somehow my younger children got the message from their older siblings that when you are 18 you should be ready to be on your own. I have raised very independent men and women. I love what a friend once said to me, a good parent works their way out of a job! I often take comfort in that. My heart still aches as there is great physical distance between me and several of my children. What the Lord continues to show me is each one of us has a calling on our life. It is their time to walk with the Lord, and He is not done with me yet. Age has crept up on me but I am so thankful to still have younger children at home. Daily I am reminded that is what is of most importance. I desire that these kiddos know Jesus. I am blessed to have them here for a time and want to be sure I point them in the right direction.
“Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.
How blessed [happy and fortunate] is the man whose quiver is filled with them;
They will not be ashamed When they speak with their enemies [in gatherings] at the [city] gate” Psalm 127:4-5.
The term youth we will leave up to God to determine! Our children are like arrows and we need to point them in the direction we want them to go. As we raise them, the habits that are created, responses and patterns of life will dictate the way they will choose later. Aim them at Jesus with a firm grip that they may know they are loved by you and an awesome God!
